Principal Function of the Position:
This position is responsible for providing daily technical support to design engineering, tooling, prototype, production, and technical writing areas.
Primary Engineering Clerk Duties:
- Research and processing of all technical specifications used in the design, prototyping, and manufacturing of specific Unverferth parts.
- Working closely with all areas of manufacturing to ensure that the company is incorporating “best practices” into its electronic database.
- Reviews ECN’s for correctness of print specs and manufacturability.
- Creates and edits Bills of Materials for all parts and sub-assemblies.
- Works with manufacturing to establish production standards on new parts released to floor.
- Addresses engineering issues on new products for Manufacturing and Prototype departments.
- Work directly with Sales in assigning product numbers in a timely manner.
- Revise the current database to better utilize inventory.
- Perform redraws on parts for correctness (i.e., attribute and dimensioning).
Secondary Engineering Clerk Duties:
- Establish, maintain, and monitor accurate and concise engineering standards.
- Establish, maintain, and monitor accurate and concise specifications standards.
- Provide major project support for all areas as directed by The Design Engineering Supervisor or senior management.
Tertiary Engineering Clerk Duties:
- Assist Technical writing department which is responsible for creating procedure manuals, service manuals, and operation manuals.
Physical Demands:

- Hold the arm and hand in one position or hold the hand steady while moving the arm.
Education Requirements:
This position requires a minimum of Associates in Business/Administration, CAD Design, Ag Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or other business / manufacturing related field of study.
Prerequisite Skills and Work Experience:
- Minimum 1-3 years experience with product design and manufacturing (Ag field preferred).
- Prior experience and/or familiarity with modern manufacturing and process design and flow.
- Prior experience in Solid modeling software applications (Autodesk Inventor preferred).
- Proficiency with written, verbal, presentation, and telephone communications skills.
- Some prior familiarity with MRP (Materials Requisition Planning) processes and procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft products including Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Power Point, etc.
